Our Green Policies
Colourstat takes the issues of recycling of waste, the use of recycled products and lowering our carbon foot print very seriously. As a company we’ve made a commitment to operate with as little environmental impact as possible and likewise to supply print to our clients in the same manner. All companies have a role to play in reducing their impact on the environment and using recycled paper lowers our environmental impact in many ways.
We have researched the issues related to the use and supply of recycled paper. Please find the following information on the paper we use:
Colour printing
Currently, Colourstat's standard colour digital printing paper is Colourtech+, supplied to us from Xerox Supplies. This paper gives us the best print quality. This paper is produced using processes conforming to ISO14001 or EMAS Environmental Systems. Colourtech+ is produced from renewable paper sources and is 100% Chlorine free bleached.
EMAS - the Eco-Management and Audit Scheme, is a voluntary initiative designed to improve companies’ environmental performance. For more information on ISO14001 click here.
For colour digital printing onto recycled paper we can offer 2 choices:
1.
A coated paper that is made up of 75% recycled paper of which 60% is post consumer waste, 15% post industrial waste and 25% virgin fibre (10% of which is FSC sourced). This paper is bleached using chlorine free chemicals. The biproduct of the production is reused for other commercial uses including brick making. It carries FSC Certification.
We are currently testing this product and may switch to this permanently in the future.
2. An uncoated paper made from 100% Post-Consumer waste. De-inked without bleaching and free from optical brightening agents (OBA). Awarded the Nordic Swan and Blue Angel for control of emissions during production and standards of raw materials used. Extra whiteness is achieved by using selected waste. Wrapped and packed in recycled material.

Black and white printing
We recently switched to using a paper that is made of 100% recycled paper. 50% is recycled fibre and 50% is paper production waste. Production is chlorine free and the paper carries FSC Certification. For more detailed information on this paper please visit www.explorer-paper.com.
The above paper is manufactured in Portugal so due to its shipping it does carry a carbon footprint. However, seeing as most office paper is sourced from Indonisia this does have a significantly lower footprint.
Alternatively we can supply a paper that is made of 100% recycled London waste and is manufactured in Kent, therefore carrying a very low carbon footprint. If you would like us to use this paper, please enquire for details/costs etc.
